This is my entry for the Art Bead Scene...
I so loved the colors in this picture and just the pictures its self. These gorgeous artisan lampwork beads pick up the flow of grey, silver, blue and purple colors in the woman's dress as well as the soft greens in the landscape.

The metallic designs in the lampwork beads, also, pick up a similar feel from the skirt.  The colors in the freshwater pearls, crystals and smaller lampwork beads are the accent colors in the painting as in the bracelet.  This bracelet is made with a generous amount of sterling silver adding to the richness and silver in her flowing wrap.

ABS February Monthly Challenge

ABS February Monthly Challenge by Klassy Joolz

The theme of this month's challenge at ArtBeadScene is based on "The Conference of the Birds by Habiballah," (page from a manuscript of the The Language of the Birds of Farid al-Din `Attar ca. 1600.)
I was inspired by the beautiful birds and colors of this months ABS Challenge.  These wonderful Artisin Lampwork Beads are from several artists...Glitzy Glass (bumpy beads), Mandrel (large disc) and I'm so sorry to say I'm not sure who the others bead designers are:(...my records are package away.  I used copper and sterling silver accents to highlight this design.

Thank you for viewing my design challenge piece!

ABS January 2012 Monthly Challenge

ABS January 2012 Monthly Challege by Klassy Joolz
ABS January 2012 Monthly Challenge, a photo by Klassy Joolz on Flickr.

This is my entry for January's Challege.  I have had these Artisan Lampwork Beads since 2007 and never knew what I wanted to do with them.  They had been sitting and waiting to come to life and this Challenge did that for them and for me.  I'm sorry to say I don't have the information on the artist of beads (my paper work is in storage).

I wire wrapped the lampwork beads with bronze wire, added some Czech Fire Polished Class Beads, Brass Butterflies, Brass Vintji Beetle, Brass Vintji Bead Caps and Natural Brass Chain.  And, Yes, the Beetle is the Clasp.

This necklace can be worn with the Flowers/Leaves in the front of the necklace or turned to one side or the other for a different version.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my creation!!!

About the Art

"Trellis was William Morris' first commercially available wallpaper design. It was sold through the company of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co, which was later to become Morris & Co, in 1864. However, the design itself had been completed by Morris two years before in 1862.

ABS December 2011 Challenge

ABS December 2011 Challenge by Klassy Joolz
ABS December 2011 Challenge, a photo by Klassy Joolz on Flickr.

This months Challenge is The Chrysler Building - NYC Skyscraper -
by William Van Alen architect, at New York, New York, 1928 to 1930

I found this picture when looking up the Chrysler Building history and thought this outside structure was so amazing.  The picture to the right is an inside elevator picture and equally amazing.  So from these pictures I created  the pendant above as my entry for this month.   I love metallics and these Artisan Lampwork beads by Mandrel on Etsy are a perfect fit for this months theme.

•The Chrysler Building is considered by many tall building fans to be the world's quintessential skyscraper design.
•At its completion the Chrysler Building overtook the Tour Eiffel as the world's tallest man-made structure.
•Groundbreaking was on September 19, 1928, and opening ceremonies were on May 28, 1930.
•Chrysler asked the architect for a world's tallest building. To beat competitors who were trying the same feat, William van Alen designed a 56 meter (185 foot) spire which was secretly delivered to the site in sections, assembled inside the elevator shaft, and raised to the top in 90 minutes.
•A particularly beautiful example of the Art Deco style, the lobby of the Chrysler Building is clad in different marbles, onyx and amber.
•This was one of the first large buildings with extensive metalwork on the facade.
•The ornaments on the shaft and setbacks allude in different ways to the automobile, with metal hubcaps, gargoyles in the form of radiator caps, car fenders, and hood ornaments.
•The eagles which adorn the tower and brightwork above the 61st floor are made of corrosion-resistant Nirosta, an alloy of chrome-nickel steel which was developed by Krupp of Germany.
•The interior is decorated with Egyptian motifs and an Edward Trumbull ceiling fresco titled "Transport and Human Endeavor" that depicts buildings, airplanes, and scenes from the Chrysler assembly line.
•The building has a total of 3,862 windows.
•20,961 tons of structural steel, 391,881 rivets, and 3,826,000 bricks were used to assemble the building.

So with all that....I loved this months Challenge!

My entry for the Art Bead Scene this month is this bracelet in creams, gold, bronze and brass with a tiny hint of green.   This lovely painting is just beautiful and I drew from it's feminine, floral and soft color palette. The Artisan Lampwork Beads are made by Catalina Glass.  The bracelet is wire wrapped in bronze wire and accented with natural brass and Vintja Brass.

These are pictures of baby hedgehogs that our pet hedgehog had a few years back...too cute!

My son had purchased a Hedgehog for his girl friend, but unknown to all of us was that it was a she and she was pregnant.  What a shock/surprise to one day look in the cage and there were all these cute little babies.  It was so amazing as they are such strange creatures...we were so lucky to have experienced this wonder of nature and been able to enjoy them.
